Chinese Businessman, Chairman of Dalian Wanda Group

Wang Jianlin, a Chinese businessman, founder and chairman of Dalian Wanda Group, is China’s largest real estate developer as well as the world’s largest movie theater operator. Wang is a delegate to the Chinese National People’s Congress. He was twice named CCTV’s “Economic Person of the Year”.

At the age of 16, Wang started his 17-year service with the People’s Liberation Army, initially as a border guard before rising to become a regimental commander. Wang worked in different posts in the real estate companies after his military service. Today, his company has grown into a conglomerate with commercial properties, entertainment, IT and finance services as its pillar industries, and ascended to the rank of Global Fortune 500 Company. He was thus bestowed China Charity Award four times by the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs. He won the titles of “Exemplary Individual for Supporting Handicapped and Disabled”, “Outstanding Individual for Poverty Alleviation” and “China Poverty Alleviation Innovation Award” issued by the Chinese State Council. He has long held positions of Vice Chairman of the China Charity Alliance and Honorary President of the China Charity Federation, demonstrating his commitment to social responsibilities.
